Viktor Benev's interest in blending field recordings, acoustic and electronic sounds together began around 2014, two years after he definitively moved from Sofia to Paris. Absorbing influences from contemporary French music and notably the "musique concrète" movement, founded by Pierre Schaeffer and Pierre Henry, his ideas finally found a medium, through which to manifest themselves.

Exploring the electro-acoustic world for a couple of years, actively learning and experimenting in the process, the material behind Motions in Circuits slowly reached a constructive end, leading to the release of his debut solo album.

The year 2019 marks the definitive choice of Benev's pursuing a long-term research in the electro-acoustic domain and coincides with the foundation of enovae records with Motions in Circuits being the first edition of the label.

Today, this album has a more of an archival-type of quality, displaying the first steps of Benev's gradual flip from classical and jazz music to the more vast electronic and production-driven sonic world. It is first and foremost an honest exhibition of the inner sounds Benev was preoccupied with at the time.
