about
viktor benev's first single obscurus was composed in lockdown during the covid-19 health crisis in 2020. it shows a rather dark side of the worldwide mess this event has caused. with a notch of positivism though, a longing for a better world, the author hopes for a more acceptable future. one in which people might change for the better and reconsider their priorities. one in which they could be more caring for the others and for nature.
"perhaps, through darkness we could find the light and music could be the vessel." - viktor says.
the song has an electronic, industrial ring to it, combined with distorted vocals. it evolves with an acid-inspired bass line, which suddenly reveals a rhodes solo, before retreating to a calming end, which calls upon the main subject of the song.
lyrics
raging darkness in myself awake
wake me up from this wretched world fake
do this deed for my own damn sake
wake me up from this wretched world fake
